Liz Hatton was invited to Windsor Castle to take photos of an investiture ceremony
Liz was invited to take these photos at the ceremony, which was led by Prince William.
Princess Catherine hugged 16 year old photographer Liz, who is battling a rare and aggressive form of cancer. Doctors have told Liz has only 6 months to 3 years left. Her hobby is a way to get as many memorable experiences of her short life. And today was an amazing experience for her.
Liz was personally invited by Catherine and William in response to a “photography bucket list” the teen’s mother posted to social media in May. Liz was invited along with her family to Windsor Castle to meet the royals. Liz was accompanies by her mother, step-father and brother to Windsor Castle.
Princess Catherine is a patron of the Royal Photographic Society, and often shares photos she took of her family for birthdays, holidays and other milestones.
The lovely photo of Catherine’s hug with Liz was posted by the royals to their social media accounts with the following message:
A pleasure to meet with Liz at Windsor today. A talented young photographer whose creativity and strength has inspired us both. Thank you for sharing your photos and story with us. (heart emoji) W&C
Liz later wrote online: ‘Such lovely, genuine and kind people. I’m over the moon that my family had this experience.’
The teenager was accompanied by her mother, Vicky Robayna, stepfather, Aaron and brother Mateo.
The teenager was delighted that a number of her photographs were posted by Catherine and William’s social media channels. Her story and photos were broadcast to million of the Prince and Princess followers.
A royal spokesman said: ‘The Prince found out about Liz through the London Air Ambulance Charity of which he is Patron and following the investiture both the Prince and princess of Wales met Liz privately with her family to hear about her day and journey.’
Princess Catherine has attended a number of meetings and a ballet performance since announcing she has completed her chemotherapy treatment. None of these were captured on camera or publicised in any way. This is the first meeting which has been publicised.
It’s great to see Catherine well enough to get back to her job of meeting people and showing them a lovely time.
