Justin Timberlake arrested for drink driving in NY

He’s yet another celebrity with a mug shot after being arrested

According to TMZ spies, an incident went down in the early hours of Tuesday morning in the town of Sag Harbor in Long Island.  This is an ultra exclusive neighbourhood in the Hamptoms, where they uber rich live.

According to the Sag Harbor police, Justin Timberlake didn’t stop at a stop sign, so they followed him. They said he wasn’t able to drive in a straight line, swerving on the road.

After this, the police stopped him. They got him to do the field sobriety tests and said he did badly on all the tests. They said they observed the following, which is why they arrested him as they suspected he was drunk driving:

• there was a strong odour of alcohol from his breath
• he had bloodshot and glassy eyes
• his speech was slower than normal
• he wasn’t able to stay steady on his feet
• he couldn’t follow their instructions properly

Justin apparently told the police he just had a single martini. Justin refused to do a breathalyser test, saying, “No, I’m not doing a chemical test.” I guess that breathalyser test would have shown him to be way over the limit and he would have lost his driver’s license on the spot. Timberlake went on to refuse the test two more times before he was read the Miranda rights and arrested

His friends were driving nearby and saw him get arrested, so they tried to intervene. They asked the police to “cut him a break”, in other words, not to arrest him. That definitely did not happen as the police arrested him.

Justin has a very expensive lawyer, Edward Burk Jr, who got him out of prison in the morning. The PR is already starting with his lawyer saying Justin did nothing wrong. I guess his lawyer is the one who advised him not to do a breathalyser test and therefore not to give the police any evidence. His lawyer has stated, “he looks forward to vigorously defending Mr Timberlake against these allegations.” According to his lawyer, they’re waiting for “full discovery” from the Sag Harbor District Attorney’s office. In other words, his high power lawyer will find any and all loopholes to keep his client out of jail. And Timberlake made it easier for his lawyer by not submitting to a breathalyser test, so it’s not as easy to convict him of anything.

A statement this week by the Sag Harbor Police Department:

“Mr. Timberlake was placed under arrest, processed, and held overnight for morning arraignment. Mr. Timberlake was arraigned at the Sag Harbor Village Justice Court on June 18, 2024, at 9:30 AM where he was released on his own recognizance,”

Timberlake was charged with one count of driving while intoxicated and two citations, one for running a stop sign and one for failure to keep in lane.
