He went there to help give them some much needed publicity for the work they do
Prince William went to help the food bank disrtribute some food to people who were needy.
He posted:”Joining the inspirational Surplus to Supper and seeing how they redistribute 25,000 meals a year across Surrey and West London.”
William also posted: “A brilliant model for sustainability, fresh food that would otherwise have gone to waste is redistributed for free to support food banks, schools, care homes, shelters, clubs and religious organisations across the local community.”
He was there to show solidarity with the workers of the food bank, show what they do and how they do it. He carried crates of food, drove the van with the other two workers, talked to volunteers and the recipients of the food. The aim of this is to give much needed publicity to these food banks, so they can help more people in need, which is very much appreciated by those who receive it, given we’re currently in a cost of living crisis and many people don’t have enough food.
One of the staff Rachel Candappa who volunteers at the Surplus to Supper food bank gave William 2 get well cards – one for his wife and one for his dad. She said she was up until 1am writing the well wishing wording in the big cards. He seemed very touched by the sweet gesture.
What do you think about William highlighting what this charity is doing for London? Do you think it’s heartwarming? Or are you a cold fish? Are you donating?
