Taylor Swift’s The Tortured Poet’s Department has so many hidden gems

She’s made reference to not just exes but also Kim Kardashian in her diss album

In her second secret The Tortured Poets Department album that Taylor Swift dropped on Friday night as an addition to the first one, there’s a song entitled “thanK you aIMee” which spells out KIM if you take just the capitalisations.

Taylor is known to do that in her songs, adding capitals to letters in song lyrics to keep her fans guessing. Taylor did this for every album until Reputation, but she is bringing it back with a vengeance.

“All that time you were throwin’ punches, I was buildin’ somethin’ / And I can’t forgive the way you made me feel / Screamed ‘F—k you, Aimee’ to the night sky, as the blood was gushin’.”

The Taylor Swift sings it was never a “fair fight” between the two women or a “clean kill.” She alludes to “Aimee” — or let’s just say it, Kardashian — “stomping across” her “grave” and writing headlines “laughing at each baby step I’d take.”

In the bridge section of the song, Taylor sing, “And maybe you’ve reframed it and in your mind you never beat my spirit black and blue”, inferring that Kim Kardashian hurt her so much but refused to acknowledge what she did to Taylor. Then Taylor goes on with, “I don’t think you’ve changed much, and so I changed your name and any real defining clues, and one day your kid comes home singin’ a song that only us two is gonna know is about you.”

Taylor is so smart. She knows Kim has young kids and those young kids are going to be listening to and singing a song that is about their mother. And we all know if your mother forbids you to do something, you wanna do it more. So there’s no way Kim’s kids aren’t going to be singing “thanK you aIMee”. Taylor has given her diss to Kim’s children to give to her, personally.

The Swifties are all over this song which is about the history between them, specifically about the alleged “leaked” phone call about Kanye’s lyrics where he rapped “me and Taylor coulda had sex, I made that bitch famous”.Kim Kardashian released an illegally recorded conversation between Kanye and Taylor that seemingly showed Taylor gave him permission to use her name in that way on his lyrics. But, Taylor said it was manipulated. Taylor provided the original audio which was very different to the manipulated one released by Kim Kardashian.

Taylor had this to say at the time: “You know, the one that was illegally recorded, that somebody edited and manipulated in order to frame me and put me, my family, and fans through hell for 4 years,” Swift wrote via Instagram Story in 2020, which Kardashian denied.

After the beef, Taylor said she went “psychologically” to a place she’d never been before” and “had a rental for a year” and “didn’t see anyone for a year” because she felt that she “didn’t trust anyone” and she “went down really hard”. So this song is a big fuck you to both Kim Kardashian and Kanye, finally 15 years later. Better late than never right? And Taylor’s fans of course support Taylor to the max.

When Taylor Swift opened up about the feud with Kim Kardashian in Elle two years after it happened, she wrote: “It would be nice if we could get an apology from people who bully us, but maybe all I’ll ever get is the satisfaction of knowing I could survive it, and thrive in spite of it,” she wrote for the outlet before turning 30 in 2019.

While Taylor wrote that in 2019, it was 10 years after it happened, so she was still not over it. That’s why finally now with the blessings of time healing wounds, I think she felt more prepared to write about it and why it hurt her so much. Probably still does a little but not as bad as before. And she’s allowed to feel whatever she’s feeling. Her fans are lapping it up.

This is taking Swifties by storm. They are loving it. They know this particular song is about Kim Kardashian, as would everyone in Hollywood. This diss isn’t even subtle, it’s so overt that there is no way Kim Kardashian wouldn’t know it’s about her. Now given posted about snakes a few years ago, inferring it was about Taylor, she will no doubt do something to get back at Taylor.
